The Lansing Lions are raising money to build a band stand in Myers
Park. This continues a long tradition for the Lansing Lions, who
constructed many of the pavilions in the park and even donated the
Community Center to the town. The club is working with the Town
to pick just the right design and location in Myers.
This is the sort of look the Town Parks Department hopes for
Businesses
or individuals may contribute $250.00 or more to the project and get a
plaque that will be displayed on the finished structure.
Naturally smaller donations are welcome, and the Lions are raising
money for the project in other ways as well. The "Lansing Throw"
sale is one way funds are being raised.
Originally the
club hoped to build a band stand for about $10,000, but the cost could
be as high as $40,000. However Park Superintendent Steve Colt
says that he thinks this approximate look can be achieved for a lot
less. He is currently pricing alternatives with an eye toward
getting the price down.
